Me and my work

I was born in 1964 in Coventry, brought up in Durham and studied Fine Art at Chelsea and Camberwell in the 80's.

The main thing I learnt was to look really hard at everything, and I learnt to look through drawing. Drawing and looking helps to develop your critical eye.

My creative approach is that of a painter but I have been working increasingly with textiles, often recycled. I make large pieces both abstract and pictorial and have been commissioned several times to make large textile works and installations.

I like to exhibit these pieces and place them, either individually or as a body of work, in unlikely situations.

I have run workshops for several years - I get a kick from the energy, immediacy and performative side of it, and from sharing my enthusiasm for creativity!
